A Cassette Portal :: Higher Planes Sound Book
I n t r o d u c i n g New Planes latest project, Higher Planes Sound Book - a limited edition cassette + riso print poster.
As self-educators the musicians on this cassette have experimented with methods of meditation. The tape is a bulletin of self-improvised sound rituals for spiritual and psychic development.
It’s been produced to cassette as track selection is uneasy, and so one must accept the flow, accept the whole. As well as this the magnetic tape can be reprogrammed. This suggests we can rewrite the conditioning stored in our minds.
It’s a collection of ‘sound peaces’ to be used in your magic rituals, or a mechanism to record your own. There’s many excellent artists involved from Melbourne’s Hi God People, Bum Creek, Young Magic and The Radiant School of Living; Sydney’s Jonathan Hochman, Erik Omen and Anna Kristensen; as well as USA sun dudes Red Electric Rainbow and Deep Magic.

To celebrate the release of the Higher Planes Cassette, New Planes and Siberia Records will present Higher Planes Super Meditation, a live ritual event to be held on 11.11.11 at 11pm.
Hochman and Hopkins (Holy Balm / NOTV), Erik Omen, Holiday Sidewinder, Smokey Quartz and Lapiz Lazuli Chime Band (++ more to be announced) will perform meditations under moon-glow at a secret outdoor location (Grass, Cliffs, Sydney Skyline – to be announced the day before)… FBi radio will broadcast the cassette live at 11PM - to be tuned in by anyone anywhere.
…AFTER… which DJ Business Shirt (Tyson: Loose Joints/Clambake), Shesh Besh and Siberia DJs will guide the celestial rave until the sun rises

Proposals for New Planes Public Press Issue 3 are now open.
Issue 3 explores autonomy, activism, and is interested in the evolving mechanics of fringe cultures, non-monetary exchange systems, networks of shared information, interdisciplinary practices, self-organisation and home school.
A central unit will examine ‘The Page as a Maxi-pad’ - women’s issues by women and men.
New Planes Public Press welcomes literary form pushing, experimental page use, heuristic techniques, print adventures that spur travel across multiple media, pre-formed artwork, lyrics, poetry and collaborative projects.
